The project continues
The text approved by the Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development of the Chamber of Deputies replaced Bill 300/23, prepared by the rapporteur, Deputy Delegate Mateus Laiola (União-PR), Deputy Celio Studart (PSD-CE) for Bill 300/23.
The speaker adjusted the wording, maintaining the original purpose of the sentence:
“The fine imposed for environmental crimes is actually significantly low, as it fails not only to adequately punish the offender, but also to prevent further offensive behavior,” said Deputy Delegate Mateus Layola.
The approved replacement amends the Environmental Crimes Law and does not change the maximum fine, which can currently reach R$50 million.
The draft is being finalized and will still be reviewed by the Finance and Taxation, Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Committees.
