A 50-year-old farmer was reportedly trampled to death by a herd of elephants while working. The incident occurred last week (20) in a village in India.
According to Latest News, the man was tending to his crops with two other farmers when they saw a herd of about 17 elephants approaching.
The trio tried to escape from the elephants but the victim, identified as Tuna Gowda, tripped, fell to the ground and was trampled to death.
Farmer’s family will receive compensation
Local authorities said the animals had surrounded the village for several days, but conservation managers and residents were monitoring their movements. After the autopsy, the family will be paid compensation.
