Roars, convulsive leaps and bites were part of an epic battle between two jaguars. The fight between the “painted birds” occurred during a dispute over territory on the banks of the Cuiaba River, in Mato Grosso.
A video of the cats fighting was recorded by Mark Nussaum during an excursion in August 2018.
The images are impressive. This happens because one of the jaguars makes a super jump, including an acrobatic jump, to try to grab the enemy. The other, in turn, manages to escape.
However, after some time of struggling, one of the jaguars tucks its tail between its legs, and then both seem to calm down.

One of the main threats against the jaguar is the destruction of its habitats, in addition to hunting. According to WWF, the jaguar is classified as a vulnerable species by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) and Ibama.
