One scene impressed dozens of internet users as it recorded a scene from the reality of the Pantanal. A male jaguar was caught killing a cub and then copulating with the dead animal’s mother.
He shared the images on his Instagram profile and explained that it is a “unique moment when a male jaguar kills and eats a cub, and a few days later copulates with the mother of the dead cub.”
Followers reacted to the pictures of the male jaguar. “Glad you captured it. I saw Eme and Medrosa together. I understand that this is the reality of nature, but it somehow hurts. Good job, Chris.
The scene of infanticide is a practice that is found among cats. Males kill other people’s babies, that is, when crossing with a baby from another individual of the same species, they kill this animal.
“Infanticide is one of the reasons why not all puppies born from one pregnancy are able to survive,” explains Instituto Homem Pantaneiro veterinarian and jaguar specialist Diego Viana.
