The animal, still little known in the West, but highly valued in Eastern cuisine, is under the threat of extinction due to overfishing.
The sea cucumber, named after the vegetable and suspicious in appearance, is in high demand for its innards, which are eaten as a culinary delicacy.
In a video posted by biologist Biomesquita on his YouTube channel, he explains the process performed on an animal to sell and consume the delicacy.
“These animals are cleaned for consumption. The entrails came out of them. This is all the intestines of the animal, and it even uses this intestine for protection, ”explains the biologist.
This part of the animal is sold as a delicacy and is believed to have an aphrodisiac effect. In addition, there are indications that consumption can reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease, inflammation, and even fight cancer.
