Four dogs from the Helen Keller School for Guide Dogs in Balneario Camboriu, on the north coast of Santa Catarina, took the walk that every tourist in Dubai, Brazil, wants to take.
At altitude, the dogs experienced something new, which in the future will help orient the blind or people with severe visual impairments.
The tour is actually a workout that takes place on the FG Big Wheel. The dogs Havana, Harpa, Happy and Gibisco made their way inside the Complex, as well as all the visitors who came for the tour.
The goal is for them to know all the steps so they can know how to handle all situations when they are on a mission to help someone, like being on top, finding a tutor bench to sit on, walk among other people and arrive at the key moment to enter the cockpit to experience the Ferris wheel experience.
According to school president Alice Busanello, this partnership with FG Big Wheel is very valuable in this final stage of dog training.
“We have also been to Parque Unipraias and this contribution of the tourist attractions of Balneario Camboriu is really very important. I confess that we have a dream, which is to make Balneario Camboriu the most inclusive city in Brazil, because it hosts so many people, and among these many tourists there are also blind and disabled people, ”says the president.
Communication with family
Isabela and her husband Everton have had guide dogs for 10 months and have been to the FG Big Wheel to interact with the animals, Jemp, 1 year and 5 months, and Kika, 8 months, from guide dog school. To make the spin, the couple were greeted by the Ferris wheel crew and Beth Westarb, an employee who helps all the people with special needs who visit the attraction.
“The tour went great and we realized that the ferris wheel was prepared for accessibility. The dog in the process of socialization learns the world, being exposed to sounds, people, other animals, movements, etc. It is very important that at this stage he has a different experience, since he will be the eyes of a blind man and he will have to drive a car autonomously, – said the socializer.
School President Helen Keller explained that the animals stay in communicating families for 3 to 15 months, and that’s when they are introduced to the world.
