Another snake rescue by Fujama in Jaragua do Sul, north of Santa Catarina, has made waves on the internet. This time it was false coral.
“We got to the house. Let’s just see what kind of animal is here. Think about the occupant’s fear. But I fell in love with this little animal,” Giba biologist Gilberto Ademar Duve says.
Fujama biologists say the difference between real and false coral snakes isn’t easy to tell, so it’s important that people don’t pick them up and try to catch them without the help of a professional.

There are about 30 species of true coral and more than 50 species of false coral in Brazil, so there are no rules for identifying them. Gotta be careful
“False corals have a very weak venom, it is harmless to us, will not cause serious symptoms, unlike real corals, in which the venom is dangerous,” Giba adds.
He also explained that false coral is black and white when young, and as it grows, the white parts turn red.
Rescuing the false coral, Giba carried it to safety in the middle of the forest and released it.
Through social media, biologist Giba received many questions about the differences between snakes and provided explanations. Check it out below.
