SmartFit, a leader in the Latin American fitness market, and FitSul, a gym operator specializing in franchising, announced on Tuesday (19) ambitious plans to expand their presence in the south of Brazil, with a particular focus on the state of Santa Catarina.

“Ten years ago, Smartfit bought some gyms that I had in Sao Paulo, and then I had the opportunity to come to Florianópolis,” says Yamada, recalling the first gym opened in the capital. FitSul currently operates 9 SmartFit franchises and plans to double that number over the next four years.
The director highlighted how changing mentalities and improving the quality of life of Brazilians created a favorable context for the company’s growth. “There has been a boom in physical activity in Brazil. Today you no longer need to be convinced that physical activity is a necessity.”
Leo emphasized that better financial conditions and an educated population have encouraged everyone to take better care of their health: “If you sit down and ask how people feel about physical activity. Anyone who doesn’t will find some excuse. You no longer have to explain what will benefit you.”
SmartFit, which is now present in 15 countries, has created a proven, successful business model. Together with Fit Sul, it is well positioned to continue its growth in Santa Catarina. “Fit Sul has a growth plan to double the number of franchises. There are 9 academies, and in the next four years we should increase them to twenty,” Yamada concludes optimistically.
