An 11-year-old child was hospitalized in serious condition after being poisoned by a gecko. The incident occurred in Formosa, on the outskirts of the Federal District. There is a suspicion that the child was offered the fried reptile by his stepmother.
According to the initial investigation by the Goiás civil police, the boy was forced, but not forced, to eat. Speaking to R7, the delegate in charge of the case said the child was not forced to eat and that the gecko was cooked and fried before being served to the boy. After swallowing the animal, the child became ill and was taken to hospital, where it was discovered that she had contracted the bacteria.
According to the delegate, “he [a criança] He has been treated, is taking antibiotics, is under observation and is progressing. He’s fine, but it looks like he’s really gone bad, it looks like this bacteria may have caused him multiple organ failure,” he said.
Those responsible for the child will be questioned by police and the boy’s mother will give evidence this Thursday (16). The incident happened earlier this month.
