Bethesda Hospital in Joinville, north of Santa Catarina, this Friday (1st) opened a new 600m² Intensive Care Unit (ICU) wing. In total, 7 million reais were invested to ensure the viability of the unit.

About 40 specialists, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and a multidisciplinary team, are being trained to work in the new service, which will have 10 beds, according to the hospital.

To make the R$7 million investment feasible, three main sources of income were used. About 40% of the amount came from Trimania, which distributes the funds raised through capitalization bonds to the institution.

“This is another milestone, a very important achievement for everyone and for everyone. We consider the work done to be a real case, a success story that is exemplary for Trimania as the hospital’s main service provider,” says Cadu Zucetto, Managing Director of Trimania Norte Catarinense.

Another 30% was allocated by parliamentary amendment for the purchase of equipment, and the remainder was donated by the old English school in Joinville.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Bethesda Hospital temporarily and in an emergency set up several intensive care beds to treat coronavirus patients.

From now on, with the opening of a general intensive care unit, the institution will offer a permanent intensive care service for patients with various types of diseases.
