The GIRO ND program this Wednesday (26) interviewed nephrologist Dr. Marcos Vieira, President of the Fundação Pro Rim de Joinville.
In an interview, concerns about kidney disease caused by high blood pressure are a warning to the public.
Hypertension is a hidden disease affecting 30% (63 million people) of the Brazilian population.
High blood pressure is responsible for approximately 35% of cases of chronic kidney disease in the country.
It impairs the functioning of the kidneys and, since the kidneys also control blood pressure, this leads to a snowball: High blood pressure interferes with the work of the kidneys; and they, working poorly, reduce pressure control.
This leads to a further increase in pressure and deterioration of kidney function.
Listen to the interview and learn how to control your blood pressure.
