The sale and distribution of Keishi brand noodles and other types of pasta was banned by Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) in a ruling published this Thursday (22). The ban came after a review by the agency found ethylene glycol, a substance that poisons and kills dogs, as one of the ingredients.
Ethylene glycol is a highly toxic organic solvent that, if ingested, causes kidney and liver failure, which can be fatal. Information provided by WOL.
According to Anvisa, there is no approval for the use of this substance in foods.
Casey is responsible for the production of various types of oriental-style noodles such as udon, yakisoba, ramen, as well as savory pasta such as gyoza, which can be sold frozen.
The agency definition is valid for products manufactured between July 25, 2022 and August 24, 2022.
If you cannot find the date of manufacture on an item, we recommend that you search Keishi to find out when it was made.
If the date is within Anvisa’s production lead time, it is recommended that you contact us to return the product.
In addition, if other companies have bulk products under the Keishi brand, the agency also recommends that people seek the owner of the products to return them, as they cannot be sold.
As of now, Anvisa, MAPA (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply) and health authorities are continuing investigations and daily checks on the companies involved.
In addition, product traceability information continues to be updated daily.
Anvisa has not filed for a voluntary product recall, but all companies involved are under surveillance.
The ND+ report attempted to contact the noodle company Keishi, but there was no response prior to the publication of this article at 10 am. The space remains open for display.
