Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul will have a very different ending

The creator of the series said that the ending could have been completely different!

Better call SaulO spin off from the hit series breaking Bad, came to an end this week after six seasons. Focusing on Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), a rogue lawyer who helps Walter White (Bryan Cranston) to build his drug empire around the original production, the spin-off series further elevated the universe breaking Bad and delivered a great ending to Jimmy’s arc. But the ending could be very different from what was shown.

• How did Better Call Saul end?

In an interview with IndieWire Peter Gouldco-author Better call Saul and is responsible for directing and writing the final episode, said the series had an almost completely different ending. He first explained that the tone of the final scene would be colder and fit with a different theme.

Gould said:

“I haven’t decided on the last scene in the prison yard. There was a version that didn’t have this, and in the end both [Jimmy/Saul e Kim Wexler] smoking. I went back and forth several times for a while. So far, having looked at both, I did not feel that it was right. It was more honest to part with them than to be together. But all this was discussed and analyzed in the montage more than in most episodes.

When we started this episode [o último]they will meet in Albuquerque before he [Jimmy] went to jail. In the last scene, he was alone in prison, thinking. I really liked it, but it was a bit cold. So we all felt that parting ways with both of them would be the best thing to do. Leaving everything behind and living like Gene Takovich, the former lawyer is again addicted to his fraudulent schemes. But Jimmy is soon discovered and captured by the police, a situation that takes place at the beginning of the last episode of the series, which is called “Sol is gone” (Saul is gonein loose translation).

From there, we follow the character in his attempt to make a deal with the police while he is in custody. Adding all the charges against Goodman together, his sentence would include life in prison and additional 190 years.

However, Saul speaks quickly, and soon he tried to drastically reduce the sentence to 7 and a half yearsas well as attempts to negotiate an exchange of information on the Howard Hamlin case (Patrick Fabian). That’s where his relationship with ex-lawyer Kim Wexler is (Rhea Seehorn) takes action, as such an attitude can lead to serious consequences.

At the end of Better Call Saul, Jimmy confesses to his crimes and ends up in jail.

While securing Kim’s presence on the day of her trial, Jimmy promises to reveal incriminating information about the Hamlin case to the authorities. But when he takes the microphone, he back out of a deal as well as confess the whole truth featuring Walter White, his brother Chuck, and Howard Hamlin, taking the blame for the latter’s death and clearing Kim Wexler of any charges.

The final scene takes place inside the prison, some time after the incarceration begins. 86 years old nominated by Jimmy. There, Kim goes to visit him and they smoke together, a scene very similar to what they did in previous seasons but on the loose. With a melancholy and redeeming atmosphere, Wexler leaves as Jimmy watches her leave. So the saga of Saul Goodman in the universe breaking Bad.
