Liam Payne spoke out after hitting the headline for comments about his former band, Zayn Malik.
Earlier this week, Logan Paul’s interview with a former One Direction star on YouTube was leaked online, during which he discussed past tensions in the boy band.
He was also asked about Zane, who left 1D in 2014, a year before the band announced it was going on indefinite hiatus.
“There are many reasons why I hate Zane, and there are many reasons why I’m always with him,” Liam said.
“You can always look at where he is and say, ‘Whatever it is, this guy is the liver,’ but at the end of the day, what he goes through to get to that point. As soon as I understood what he did, and again, both whether he wanted to be or not. I’ve heard more than anyone… I can’t sit here and knock on his door.”
Liam added: “I can’t praise anything he did. I can’t be next to him.
“All I can say is what I understand.” At some point, you want to get help from another person on the phone who is willing to give it to you. I hope so. “
As his comments became more widespread, Liam posted an explanation on his Twitter page.
“”“I don’t normally comment on this, but it’s hard to admit it when it comes to your family,” he wrote on Twitter.
“They brought up a particular case with Zane that I responded to, but if I’d listened, I might not have been as forthcoming as I could.
“I said there are always things that we don’t agree with, but I’m always on his side. This is a family. Zayn is my brother and I will support him forever.”
In interviews elsewhere, Liam admitted that while he and Louis Tomlinson are “best friends” now, they “hated” each other while they were in One Direction.
The stripper singer recalled the band members “throwing me against the wall” during the argument and discussed his relationship with ex-partner Cheryl Tweed, who has a five-year-old son.
