White smoke at Las Tablas headquarters. Unions and Telefonica have reached an agreement in principle under which the operator gets rid of 3,411 employees in the coming months. After many days of negotiations, the two sides failed to reach a final meeting that would have jeopardized the viability of the eventual pact.

Telefónica has once again reduced the impact to 3,411 people (2,959 in Spain397 inches Cell phones wow 56 inches Solutions) is 148 less than in the last sentence. However, the situation will be as follows:

Workers born in 1968 will receive 68% of the standard salary until age 63 and 38% until age 65. Employees born in 1967, 1966, 1965 or 1964 will receive compensation in the amount of 62% of the standard salary until age 63. and 34% under 65 years of age. Finally, employees born in 1963 and older will receive 52% of standard wages until age 63 and 34% until age 65. In addition, the unions and Telefónica agreed to increase the voluntary bonus to 10,000 for this section.

One of the greatest novelties of the agreement between both parties is that there may be forced layoffs in certain areas of the company’s activities. To date, the unions have been reluctant to go to this extreme, but Telefonica prevailed in this part of the negotiations.

The economic conditions offered to employees have also been changed so that those employees who decide to leave Telefónica will receive the same remuneration rights that were provided for in the previous exit plan, which was negotiated three years ago.

UGT said in a statement that it welcomes “the progress made in the new proposal presented by the company this Thursday and recognizes its demonstrated willingness to negotiate during this negotiation period, which has allowed both parties make significant progress until the best exit conditions, which have been signed in Telefónica and therefore in Spain, have been determined, if agreed upon.”

Telefonica will now open an enrollment period for those employees who want to register with ERE, which will begin on January 9 next year. In a few weeks the flights will be registered, but they will not end until 2025.

It is worth remembering that Telefónica offered ERE to more than 5,000 people, but both parties wanted to unite and ensure that the number was significantly reduced and the conditions were better.
