Madrid surpasses Catalonia again first economic region of Spain. Thus, the Community has been consolidated for the fifth year in a row. first CCAA, which at the end of 2022 will amount to 19.4% of the country’s GDP. In absolute terms Madrid GDP Last year it reached 261,713.1 million euros (24,172 million more compared to 2021). From my side, GDP Catalonia amounted to 255,153.8 million euros (23,096.5 million more), according to data from the Regional Accounting of Spain for last year, released today by the National Institute of Statistics.

It means that The CCAA, led by Díaz Ayuso, contributes more than $6 billion to Spain’s wealth.. It is worth remembering that in 2019, Madrid took the throne of the region that benefits Spain the most from Catalonia, and since then the gap has been growing year after year. The instability of the process has led many companies to decide to leave the Catalan region and move to other cities with greater legal security.

Balearic Islandsfor my part, was autonomous community with the highest gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2022 with an increase of 12.5%, followed by the Canary Islands and Madrid with increases of 9.7% and 7.2% respectively, according to regional accounting data published this Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The other extreme, with Less pronounced growth, less than 3%, was observed in Extremadura (+2.1%) and Castile-La Mancha (+2.2%)..

According to statistics, fourteen localities are represented in 2022 plus Ceuta and Melilla. GDP is growing faster than in the European Union (EU-27), which amounted to 3.4%.
