Endesa will appeal on a case-by-case basis the income tax imposed by Moncloa on energy companies and banks. This was announced by the electric utility after the presentation of results for 2022.

“Endesa has challenged the income tax in the National Court as discriminatory and unfounded,” the company claims in a document provided to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

The company, in turn, recalls that Endesa paid 900 million corporate income tax for 2022, which corresponds to an effective rate of 25.6%. “Endesa has a total tax contribution of $3,843 million, 85% in Spain, making it one of the top five taxpayers in the country,” he notes.

In terms of results, Endesa recorded a net consolidated income of €2,541 million in 2022, representing a 77% increase from a year earlier thanks to the good performance of the gas business as a whole and much less deterioration compared to 2021. in the value of businesses outside the mainland.

Similarly, the company achieved a net ordinary result of $2,398 million, up 26% from 2021, mainly due to the strong performance of the gas business and the strong performance of the combined cycle units.

“We have successfully navigated one of the most challenging times in recent years, both due to the market context and regulatory intervention. We retain and attract new customers with products and services that allow us to insulate them from the price spikes they have experienced. To the 8% investment increase in 2022, the year we reached our highest historical level, we will add the 20% investment increase already announced for this 2023,” José Bogas said after summing up the year.

In terms of dividends, following the excellent results, Endesa decided to increase the reward and will propose to the shareholders’ meeting a payment of 1,585 gross euros per share, which is 11% more than in the previous year.
