The event was hosted by FIESC (Federation of Industry) in Florianopolis. The event was attended by about 400 people, including industrial and political leaders. At the meeting, 12 industry unions were also recognized for their FIESC membership.

Women’s power

Daniela Tombini spoke on behalf of the laureates and highlighted the power of women in public industry.

“I am honored that today I also represent the strength of the business woman from Santa Catarina. We have a strong family industry and we have always had women from the very beginning. Alone or together with their husbands, they created families and businesses that often merged as if they were a single organization,” he said.

The businesswoman spoke about the lives of two women who were single mothers. Johanna Altenburg and Adeline Hess de Souza, both in the clothing industry. Women were widows and had to raise children and engage in business.

“They set to work, and their work resulted in large and established companies, a symbol of the strength of our industry and the entrepreneurial ability of the people of Santa Catarina. Johanna created the company, which is now 100 years old, and Adelina continued the business she founded with her husband,” said Daniela.

The highlight of Santa Catarina

According to FIESC, Santa Catarina has one of the most developed industries in the country.

Another point highlighted at the event and commented by Daniela is the reindustrialization of Brazil. In her opinion, in addition to solving the problem of infrastructure, the country needs to unlock structural reforms, have a smarter tax system with less bureaucracy and a more compact and efficient state.
