This species is widely known as a spectacular marine species. Bowhead whales are among the largest of their species and can often be seen resting in coastal waters with their calves during their migrations.
Right whale migration
For those who don’t know, whales migrate and typically travel long distances in their feeding and breeding areas.
In addition, they also have the habit of moving from colder regions where they feed to warmer, shallower waters to give birth and care for their young.
Moment of Peace
During the breeding season, whales can be seen resting in coastal waters. This is because these waters provide protection from predators such as sharks and are best for newborn calves.
The PMSC stresses that it is important to act responsibly and respectfully when whale watching.
“A safe distance must be maintained so as not to disturb the animals in their natural environment,” he explains.
