A railway connecting Santa Catarina and Parana could make a difference in improving the supply of agricultural and poultry products in Western Santa Catarina, Fiesc (Federation of Industrialists of the State of Santa Catarina) President Mario Cesar de Aguiar said in an interview. With ND Group.
In a conversation about the 2023 balance and forecasts for 2024, the president said that rail transport is important for transporting grain to the region.
“There is a very important project: connecting Chapeco with Cascavel, allowing people in the West to obtain an important resource for chicken production – corn. We have a disability [de milho]we are not self-sufficient,” he noted.

The Cascavel-Chapeco railway is planned within the PAC area.
The construction of the railway is included in the PAC (Plan to Accelerate Growth) of the federal government. The project was prepared by TPF Engenhariya. Public bidding for the auction will be announced as soon as all environmental licenses have been received. The concession for the exploitation of the future site is designed for 99 years.
The railway, called Maracaju-Dorados-Guaira-Cascavel-Chapeco, was designed by Ferroeste, a state-owned company owned by the Paraná government. From Cascavel, this section will continue to the port of Paranagua, an important export point for the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina.
The Cascavel-Chapeco site was the subject of a feasibility study sponsored by several commercial organizations including Acic, Fiesc, Faesc, Ocesc, Sindicarne, Facisc and ABPA. The Paraná government, in collaboration with the federal government, plans to apply for the construction of this part of the railway from the beginning of 2024, expecting the involvement of national and international consortia.
