In an interview with Balanço Geral this Wednesday (20), Lieutenant Colonel of the Military Fire Service Maico Francisco de Alcántara confirmed that the cause of the fire that hit the fuel distributor in Chapeco was human error.
The place was completely destroyed by the fire, which took about 60 hours to fight. “We can say that the cause of this fire was indirect human activity – that is, when it occurs due to negligence, negligence or incompetence – in this case it was negligence,” the lieutenant said.
The Balanço Geral team contacted the company responsible for the distributor but received no response.
The fuel distributor caught fire on November 13th. In total, the enterprise had 13 fuel tanks – more than 2 million liters of diesel, gasoline and alcohol.
