This is what you can do at the moment. And it is a vital measure by the Santa Catarina government to alleviate problems associated with SC-401, the busiest highway in the state, which must carry most of the region’s tourists.
SIE (Secretariat for Infrastructure and Mobility) advises that from next Friday (22nd) from 7:00 to 20:00 seven days a week a tow truck will be available to deal with traffic problems on the highway.
In a state of collapse under heavy traffic conditions during the high season, the route is easily disrupted in the event of mechanical failures or any problems that interrupt one of the routes.
Traffic limitation
Another measure to mitigate the effects of increased traffic on SK-401 is to limit the movement of vehicles weighing more than 23 tons. The measure will come into force on December 27.
Checks in the area where the movement of vehicles weighing more than 23 tons will be prohibited, as well as in all traffic centers in the capital, are entrusted to the Military Traffic Police. Failure to comply with traffic rules will result in fines for violators.
Service on SC-401
The service, which comes into effect this week, will be the latest as the contract to provide on-demand tow trucks for state highways cutting through the state capital is still active. There are 24 tow trucks available and in service with the PMRv (Military Traffic Police).
