Alex Batty, a British boy who disappeared aged 11 while on holiday in Malaga, was found this week in Revel, near Toulouse, France, six years after he went missing.

British authorities have announced the whereabouts of a now-teenager believed to have escaped from a spiritual community in France.

A young man disappeared while on vacation with his mother and grandfather. His grandmother and legal guardian told the BBC at the time they suspected the boy had been transferred to Morocco because his mother wanted to join a cult and take him out of school.

Batty finally reappeared this Wednesday in Revel, where he was seen by a driver who, worried, took him to the police station, according to police sources cited by British public television.

According to the minor’s testimony, he was in France for at least two years, but it is not specified what all his movements were during the time when his whereabouts were unknown. Batty reported no mistreatment and initial examinations showed him to be healthy.
