A meeting was scheduled for Thursday (14) at the Morro das Pedras Community Association from 19:00 to discuss the increase in incidents of violence in the south of the island.
Residents claim that the population of the neighborhoods has grown dramatically in recent years, and the security structure, as well as the number of personnel, does not meet the needs of the region.
As a result, the Committee on Consumer Protection, Human Rights and Public Safety, chaired by Councilwoman Marianne Mattos (Poland), will hold hearings to try to find solutions that will reduce the growing number of incidents.
Residents say thefts have increased significantly in recent months, and there are concerns about the high season, which in general is further inflating the region.
According to the councilor’s office, cases of theft have increased significantly and even a case of attempted rape was recorded.
Residents are not only asking for more staff, but also understand that CCTV cameras and blitz raids can help with this.
