A fire that broke out in a fryer scared customers away from a convenient gas station on the BR-470 bank in Poço Redondo, in Alto Vale do Itajaí, this early Monday morning (11). The incident was witnessed by Federal Deputy Ismael dos Santos (PSD-SC).
According to firefighters, the fire occurred around 1 am today. Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, at km 188 BR-470, station employees said that they managed to put out the flames with fire extinguishers, but there was still a lot of smoke.
According to rescuers, the flames reached the fryer, hood and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) lining of the establishment’s kitchen. After this, the kitchen where the problematic item was located was ventilated. The area was isolated and station staff were briefed.

On social media, Ismael dos Santos (PSD-SC) said he had stopped at a gas station to eat some pastry when he came across the scene. The flames were frightening, he said.
“Whoever is on the road must have a fire extinguisher. At 1am we stopped for some baked goods in Pozo Redondo and the fryer caught fire. What’s even worse is that the gas station was well equipped with fire extinguishers,” the parliamentarian said.
