A 54-year-old cyclist died after being hit by a Chevrolet/Celta on the SC-108 in the San Pelegrino area, in Turvo, in the south of Santa Catarina. The accident occurred around midnight on Monday (11).
Cyclist found unconscious
The cyclist was found unconscious, bleeding from his ear and struggling to breathe, according to the fire department. The driver of the vehicle was present at the incident.
After immobilizing the victim on a stretcher, the man suffered cardiopulmonary arrest. Military firefighters carried out resuscitation procedures before arriving at the San Sebastian hospital in Turvo. At the unit, the doctor on duty pronounced the cyclist dead.
The scene of the incident and the victim’s bicycle were examined by the Turvo military police.
