The gas station, located in the Floresta area of San Jose, Greater Florianópolis, was closed for 72 hours. The gas station employee was arrested red-handed. The ban was implemented on Friday (8) by the municipal inspectors of Prokona in collaboration with the civil police, the municipal guard and Inmetro.

The joint action was launched after two weeks of monitoring, as a result of which a gas station worker was arrested. Authorities noted that he interfered with the operation of a natural gas (LNG) pump.

Gas station involved in fraudulent schemes

The establishment was closed back in September due to failure to issue a tax coupon. The scam involved fixed prices, pumps with disabled displays, and missing critical information, which primarily harmed application drivers.

During the inspection, inspectors found defects in the pumps that did not display important information such as price and gas quantity. Procon CEO Clarice Fatima da Costa said she would send a letter to the State Revenue Service to investigate possible tax irregularities.

Gas station employee arrested red-handed

Civil police chief Manoel Galeno said about 1,000 reais were seized, which was just the profit from that morning. The gas station employee was caught red-handed, and the manager and owner of the gas station, who were absent at that time, will be held accountable for crimes against the consumer.

“As part of this fraudulent scheme, he was arrested red-handed and taken to the police station where formal arrest procedures will be carried out. The manager and owner of the station, who were not at the scene, will be prosecuted for crimes against the consumer,” Galeno explained.

Clarice stressed the seriousness of the misconduct and encouraged complaints to be filed, emphasizing the importance of joint action in protecting consumer rights and maintaining the integrity of essential services for the public.
