A suspected gang member was killed in conflict in Itapema this Friday morning (8) during Operation Safe City 4. The action, initiated by the State Secretariat of Public Security of the state of Paraná, aims to execute 52 search and arrest warrants, as well as 15 arrest warrants.

More than 350 civil, military and criminal police agents were deployed both on the coast of Paraná and in the municipalities of Jaragua do Sul and Itapema in Santa Catarina, where the suspect was killed after a shootout with police in the Morretes area.

Itapema Military Police provided support in executing warrants in the municipality. The man, according to information, was part of a criminal gang in the state of Parana. The conflict is still ongoing and the corporation is expected to release more information about it soon.

The goal of Operation Safe City 4, according to the State Secretariat of Public Security of the state of Paraná, is to weaken the illegal activities carried out by the conflicting factions.

In addition to the coast of Paraná and the two towns of Santa Catarina, the action was also held simultaneously in Paranagua and Colombo, both in Paraná. There is no information about such incidents in these places.
