A woman was captured on CCTV when she set her husband on fire in a bar in Rio de Janeiro. She was arrested this Thursday (7) and is due to be charged with attempted murder.

The images show her walking into a bar where a man is sitting in a chair. She then douses the victim with acetone and lights the lighter. The flames quickly spread through the victim’s body as he fled in desperation.

The man was burned over 92% of his body and was taken to hospital where he was questioned by police. His condition is assessed as very serious. Watch the video:

According to the delegate in charge of the case, the couple’s relationship lasted 30 years and was marked by episodes of domestic violence on both sides. The woman said that she would once again become the target of aggression and acted in self-defense. The case remains under investigation.
