A 46-year-old man, born in Santo Amaro (Bachelor State), was found dead on the banks of the Ercilio River, under the Osvaldo Tadeu Beltramini Bridge, in the center of Ibirama, in Alto Vale do Itajaí. According to the military police, the body was recovered from the water around 15:00 this Wednesday (6).
Crews from the Ibirama Volunteer Fire Department also arrived at the scene. Rescuers said the man was wearing a green shirt and shorts and, according to eyewitnesses, was last seen on Saturday, 2nd, in the Ponteau-Chic area.
Witnesses told civilian police officers, who did not reveal the man’s identity, that the man was seen around the city disoriented, as if he was being followed. People from the community saw him go into the river and never returned to the street.
There were no signs of violence on the body
Scientific police arrived at the scene when the body was discovered and an expert determined that it could have been in the water for about 5 days. Civil police confirmed that there were no signs of violence on the body and that the autopsy report should indicate the cause of death.
A few hours later, family members of the deceased came to the Ibirama police station and confirmed his identity. Details about the farewell ceremony for the man have not been disclosed.
