The operation against the criminal organization was launched on Wednesday morning (6) in towns on the northern coast of Santa Catarina, with searches, seizures and arrest warrants carried out in the municipalities of Joinville, São Francisco do Sul and Balneário Pizarras.
The operation, called Purgatio, investigates crimes related to drug trafficking, involvement in drug trafficking and murder. On Wednesday, at least 30 preventive arrest warrants and 53 search and seizure warrants were carried out at the addresses of those under investigation.
According to the Federal Traffic Police (PRF), 15 prisoners were searched, arrested and placed in preventive detention at the San Pedro de Alcantara prison, the Joinville Industrial Prison, the Joinville Regional Prison and the São Francisco do Sul Regional Prison.
A total of 256 police officers, including 99 vehicles, took part in the action. In addition to the PRF, the Military Police, Civil Police, Criminal Police and Military Firefighters of Santa Catarina took part in the mega-operation.
