The Generoso do Amaral square in Passo dos Fortes and the toilets at the city terminal were completely damaged due to vandalism in Chapeco, western Santa Catarina. The images show walls and parts of the premises covered in graffiti and broken.
According to the Minister of Urban Services and Cleaning, Luis Paulo Carrara: “This is unfortunate because the bathrooms have been renovated, painted and the doors have recently been replaced. The square was also renovated and opened this year. And other areas also suffer from vandals. This is public money that ends up being wasted. We ask the public to cooperate, help care and report this,” he said.
The mayor’s office said that the premises should be renovated in the coming days. Telephone for complaints: 153 Municipal Guard.
Vandalism in Christmas decorations
Chapeco’s Christmas decorations were also vandalized within days of being installed. This year’s decorations are part of the largest investment in Christmas decorations in the city’s history, according to the mayor’s office.
According to the mayor’s office, damage to the decoration was recorded, such as broken globes, removal of some finishing materials, and others. The committee responsible for the decorations is asking the public to help with the maintenance, and for parents to advise their children not to climb on the objects.
