Preemptively arrested during an operation to investigate illegal mining on Yanomami indigenous land in Roraima, businessman Mateus Possebon, responsible for the career of singer Alexandre Pires, also under investigation, manages other big names in Brazilian music. The group he works for operates theaters and concert halls across the country, as well as touring and managing artists.

Among the singers and influencers managed by Mateus Possebon, in addition to Alexandre Pires, are Ana Carolina, Daniel, Jota Quest, Luccas Neto, Muñoz y Mariano, Rasa Negra and Seu Jorge. Opus Entretenimento is also responsible for the groups KLB, Roupa Nova and Só Pra Contrariar, as well as the attraction “Cabaret”, a show that features Leonardo, Bruno and Marrone.

Matheus became part of the company as one of the directors in 2019, when the institution was renamed Opus Entretenimento and began working with a new segment of artistic agencies. Previously, the company was only involved in production of shows and shows, as well as managing event venues across the country.

In Santa Catarina, the band also has a presence at Arena Opus in San Jose, the former Petry arena that became Hard Rock Live Florianópolis was acquired by the company in June of this year.

Before this, the businessman had his own creative career as a singer. On his YouTube channel, Matheus shared his songs, one of which, in partnership with Jonathan Correa, received more than 65 thousand views.

Matheus manages the career of Alexandre Pires, who is also under investigation in a Federal Police operation and is one of the attractive faces confirmed in the New Year’s program in Florianópolis.

Regarding Alexandre Pires, one of the greatest representatives of Brazilian music, Opus, responsible for managing his career, expresses its solidarity with the artist, believing in his suitability and full clarification of the facts.

Opus remains committed to promoting culture and providing entertainment to the Brazilian public.”

The operation against Alexandre Pires and the businessman is aimed against illegal mining

Singer Alexandre Pires and his manager Mateus Possebon are under investigation by the Federal Police for alleged involvement in illegal mining on indigenous lands. The addresses associated with the artist and the agent were searched this Monday (4) at the Operação Disco de Ouro. One of the listed addresses is in Itapema, on the northern coast of Santa Catarina.

According to the investigation, Alexandre Pires would have received at least 1 million reais from the mining company under investigation. The businessman is suspected of financing mining in the territory of the Yanomami indigenous people. Possebon will be one of those “responsible for the financial basis of the crimes,” the PF points out.

The investigation was opened after Federal Police seized almost 30 tons of cassiterite illegally mined from the headquarters of one of the suspected companies in January 2022. The package will be sent overseas.

The PF claims that those under investigation created a scheme to create the appearance of legality of mining. Cassiterite will be mined in Yanomami territory, in Roraima, but on paper it will be stated that it comes from the Tapajos River.

During the investigation, the Federal Police identified a network of people and companies involved in the fraud.

“Financial transactions were identified that spanned the entire production chain of the scheme, with the presence of aircraft pilots, gas stations, hardware and mining equipment stores and oranges to cover fraudulent movements,” the statement released by the PF said.

This Monday, police officers served two arrest warrants and six search and arrest warrants in Boa Vista (RR), Mucahai (RR), Sao Paulo (SP), Santos (SP), Santarem (PA), Uberlandia (MG) and Itapeme.

The Federal Court also authorized the freezing of assets worth up to 130 million reais belonging to those involved in the investigation. The next stage of the investigation will be the analysis of materials seized during the operation.

This Tuesday (5), Alexandre Pires removed the name of Mateus Possebon from social networks after the preventive arrest of the leader. The businessman’s name appeared in the singer’s Instagram biography, accompanied by other information.
