Civilian police have provided new information about the double murder recorded late on Sunday evening (26), which shocked the residents of Blumenau in the Itajaí Valley. The case, which is still shrouded in mystery, is being investigated by the OIC (Criminal Investigation Department).
The dead were identified as Sergio Tavares de Lima, 45, and Joao Emanuel dos Santos, 23, according to Civil Police Chief Bruno Fernando Alves de Oliveira.
According to preliminary information from the Civil Police, it all started when an elderly man from his home fired at least five shots from a revolver at two 14-year-old teenagers who were playing ball in front of the gate of his house.
According to the Civil Police, the shooter also reloaded his revolver.
Civil police reported that the man nevertheless reloaded the revolver with a pistol in his hand and ran out of the house towards the street after the teenagers.
Soon after, residents heard more shots, and the bodies of Sergio and Joao were found with bullet holes. Witnesses said Sergio killed João and was then killed. However, investigators did not find the murder weapon at the scene.
Those responsible for the investigation of the case did not specify what kind of relationship the two dead men had with the teenagers, or whether the shooter had permission to own or carry weapons. The police investigation was opened by the Blumenau OIC, and the investigation is yet to clarify other issues in the case.
