Seven people were arrested by the military environmental police in Ilhot this Sunday (26) for illegal hunting of animals. In addition to the arrests, weapons were also seized and ten abused dogs were found.
The weapons collected by the garrison included seven shotguns of varying calibers, two 9 mm pistols, as well as 100 rounds of ammunition and radios. No information was provided about where the group operated.
According to the Environmental Military Police, the dogs were likely used to attack animals. The images showed they had abrasions and signs of malnutrition.
The prisoners, as well as all seized materials, were transferred to the Blumenau police station.
For illegal hunting of animals, the punishment can be up to one year in prison.
Illegal hunting of animals constitutes a crime against Brazilian wildlife and can result in a prison sentence of between six months and one year. In addition, the practitioner faces a fine.
