If it is down to business forces interested in improving road infrastructure, unsympathetic to MDB Isara and other southern SA leaders, State MP Volney Weber (MDB) may be left with the impression that he doesn’t want to do work in the coal region. Obviously there is exaggeration in this introduction and there is no single truth, but it seems that everything is just a political movement. This idea took shape after public hearings were held at which the completion of work on duplicating the SC-108 in Isar, in the south of the South Caucasus, was discussed.

This hearing took place on Thursday (23) last week. It was convened by the Legislative Assembly, but only Representative Volney Weber participated. He and his party colleague, also Deputy MDB and now Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Jerry Comper.

It must be said that the initiative does not come from the deputy, but from a group of people affected by the work. Although the period of debate over its route has now passed, there are those who are still keen to discuss the route again. Mr. Weber has only provoked this new debate.

Because they understand that this is a movement whose interest is local electoral politics, the municipal opposition of Isara – read MDB – no members of the government, no business leaders and other possible stakeholders were present at the hearings. They devastated him.

At the hearing, Secretary Jerry Comper announced that the work would be discussed again, including its cost. However, the most serious development occurred when the State Secretariat for Infrastructure office announced the suspension of hearings planned to discuss the second phase of this work. And if the first one is under suspicion, then how can the discussion be conducted at a new stage?

Naturally, such a development of events creates an unpleasant scenario for a deputy who intends to offer a certain part of society the right to re-discuss this issue. The majority does not seem to understand this because they associate this movement with something allied with the municipal opposition, whose interest it would be to prevent the municipality from carrying out work during this period.

Unfortunately, the masses have yet to understand what it looks like, not what it is. It will be difficult for the MP to explain that he is only doing his role as a representative of the public and not as an ally of an opposition group in the city that is using the interests of some affected traders to impose difficulties on the municipal government.

If there is a suspicion of one party’s interest, stopping the public hearing suggests that the opposite is true. And now, who’s right?
