Christmas decorations in Chapeco, western Santa Catarina, were vandalized just days after they were put up. This year’s decorations are part of the largest investment in Christmas decorations in the city’s history, according to the mayor’s office.
According to the mayor’s office, damage to the decoration was recorded, such as broken globes, removal of some finishing materials, and others. The committee responsible for the decorations is asking the public to help with the maintenance, and for parents to advise their children not to climb on the objects. See photos:
Anyone caught committing a crime may be charged with the crime of damaging public property, that is, for acts of destruction, deterioration, or damage to the property of others. The crime is provided for in Article 163 of the Criminal Code, paragraph III. If convicted, the penalty is imprisonment for a term of 6 months to 3 years in addition to a fine.
