The community of Rua Ararangua in the southern region of Blumenau has begun receiving macro-drainage services to address the flooding problem caused by flash floods in the region. Work began on November 13 by the Municipal Department of Works (Cemob), which will lay a new pipeline on a section of about 900 meters between Bento José da Silva and Barbacena streets.

Due to the complexity of construction, Semob divided the work into two phases precisely to ensure that the impact on community mobility was minimal.

In this first phase of work, excavations begin around Rua Bento José da Silva and continue approximately 300 meters to the Chapel of Santa Luzia. During this time, traffic access will be closed indefinitely. This change will force residents to use Alberto Pamplona, ​​Valença and Enhenheiro Odebrecht streets as an alternative route before returning to Rua Amazonas.

Municipal secretariats are mobilized to serve the public and minimize the impact of work. One of them is the Department of Maintenance, which will work to ensure that alternative roads are able to accommodate this flow of vehicles and pedestrians.

To support urban mobility in the region, the Municipal Traffic and Transport Authority (SMTT) has introduced new bus schedules to better serve residents. The Department of Education, in turn, maintains contact with local schools and kindergartens so that students and professionals suffer as little as possible from disruptions during work.

Works Minister Dirk Reiter says departments are working with the company and the Residents’ Association to ensure everyone understands the importance of the work. But, mainly, so that the understanding of all residents prevails. “It’s not easy, fast work. There will be setbacks and challenges, but we are focused on delivering value to this community as quickly as possible,” reflects Dirk.

Macro-drainage of Rua Ararangua aims to improve the rainwater drainage system and the asphalt surface of the road section. With an investment of R$7 million, the work was made possible thanks to the resources of the Santa Catarina government through the Special Voluntary Transfer (TEV) program.

Due to the work on Rua Ararangua, which will result in the closure of part of the road in both directions, changes will be made to the timetable and routes serving the population on line 504 (Ararangua). Each line will have two routes to serve all passengers in the region. Check it out below:

1 – The first route departs from Terminal da Fonte towards Rua Ararangua, with a route to ESF Glodoaldo Lino de Amorim, passing through Prefeito Frederico Busch Junior and Ricardo Voigt streets; and returning along Rua Ararangua, QQ again towards Terminal da Fonte.

2 – the second route departs from Terminal da Fonte and follows the streets of Amazonas, Engeneiro Odebrecht, Valença, Alberto Pamplona and Ararangua to the final point; returned along the same route towards Terminal da Fonte.

The director of transport of the Municipal Department of Roads and Transport (SMTT), Lairto Leite, believes that given the change in traffic in the region and the complete closure of the Rua Ararangua section, new routes will be important to serve passengers, with the closest possible from the starting and ending points of the blockade.

“The biggest changes occur with passengers who use the transport service after the closing point. However, in the new configuration, the new route will suit everyone,” assures Lairto.

To serve passengers amid these changes, SMTT has also added 49 services to the line, for a total of 56 midweek services, 38 Saturday services and 12 Sunday and public holiday services. A table with the schedule for each route can be seen below:

The municipal traffic and transport department says it will monitor the changes that have occurred since November 13th. The department cautions that the above times may be subject to change to ensure passengers are able to connect at the terminals. In case of new changes, the changes will be communicated in advance.
