A specialized team made up of firefighters from Santa Catarina and Paraná are working to rescue the ferry, which sank after crossing between the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul on October 18. The ferry was in Alto Bela Vista, to the west.

The ferry was at a depth of 16 meters, which made it difficult to rescue the ship, in addition to its weight.

Once the raft is on the surface, the next step is to empty the holds filled with water so that air can enter and the vessel can return and float. It then needs to be towed to a safe location where it can undergo the necessary repairs.

In addition to the driver, who did not survive and was found several days later, there were two more passengers on the boat who were found alive. The truck that was crossing the road at the time of the accident is still at the bottom of the river.
