In an operation launched by the civil police this Wednesday (8), a consignment of food worth about 1.7 million reais was discovered. The action follows a theft in Jaragua do Sul, northern Santa Catarina, that occurred in October.
According to civilian police, search, seizure and arrest warrants were executed in the city of São José dos Pinhais (PR). In addition to recovering the million-dollar cargo, police also seized electronic devices, documents and luxury cars.
The operation was carried out by the theft and cargo theft department of the Santa Catarina Civil Police, with the support of the Paraná police. At the warehouse where the operation was carried out, several stolen cargoes were discovered in the UK and other states.
The method of cargo theft attracted the attention of the police
The investigation began following a theft in Jaragua do Sul on October 7. Some features have attracted the attention of researchers, such as the cloning of a truck and semi-trailer in an advanced form.
According to the Civil Police, the falsification carried out by the group under investigation was not limited to the cloning of license plates. The suspects also planned to wrap and wrap the truck, turning one vehicle white and the other yellow, to bypass highway controls.
“Today’s action demonstrates that the old recipe for dealing with this type of criminal must be urgently overcome. The actions of criminals have changed, the actions of the police must change,” said Osney Police Chief Valdir de Oliveira.
So far, police have established that the suspects committed four cargo thefts in the cities of Jaragua do Sul, São Bento do Sul, Gaspar and Porto Belo. Products such as dates, ice cream products, sunflower oil, panettone, dishes and milk were stolen from the wholesale network.
