This Tuesday at 9 am, Governor Jorginho Mello signs the airport concession notice for a public-private partnership. This is yet another attempt to get the airport off the ground, but the results remain below the desired level.
Since its opening in 2014, Umberto Giso Bortoluzzi Regional Airport has had talk of increasing the width of its runway, among other improvements. With countless movements in this direction, both in the government that created it and in the one that preceded the current one, virtually nothing happened.
The intention is to find a partner company that, together with the airport management, will make the necessary investments. A notice to be published shortly after the law is enacted should disclose more details about the requirements. The government’s idea is that of the 60 million reais needed for the work, the partner will contribute the majority. What is missing, the government will add.
The Secretary of State for Porto, Airports and Railways, Beto Martins, believes that an auction could be held at the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange in January. The winner will be the company that submits the proposal with the fewest state government resources.
