The former partner of a woman killed on Saturday in Getafe has been arrested again after it emerged that the alibi she provided was false, police sources confirmed to Europa Press.

National police have arrested the main suspect for the second time as the author of the fatal stabbing of a woman in Getafe on Getafe Street. The arrest took place on Sunday afternoon, hours after he was released after reporting to the police station where his statement was taken. At that time, the man did not admit the facts and had an alibi, which later turned out to be false.

The attack on the woman took place on Arcas del Agua Avenue in the city, at number 15, at the corner of Kronos Street, at around 13:40 on Saturday. Members of the national police, Getafe local police and Summa 112 paramedics arrived at the scene.

Once there, doctors attempted to reverse the victim’s cardiopulmonary arrest using modern CPR techniques, but they did not work and Summa 112 personnel ultimately confirmed the victim’s death.

If the case is confirmed as gender-based violence, it will be the 52nd victim in Spain this year, a figure that already exceeds the number of deaths recorded in all of 2022.
