Characteristics of a linear park
During the meeting, Mayor Agenor Coral highlighted the main advantages of implementing a linear park in the city. “This will be a turning point in the development of the municipality. We will have improved traffic and trade, improved quality of life, and the creation of a number of new business opportunities, especially in the gastronomic segment,” he notes.
On this occasion, Infrastructure Minister Nathan Felipe spoke in detail about the composition of the project and the main planned changes. “The work covers the central part of the city on the banks of the Teresa Cristina railway, between the Jorge Silva Sports Gymnasium, the City Hall of Morro da Fumas and the Princess Isabel School. A binary system will be introduced, which should significantly improve traffic flow and expand the parking area. We will have an increase of about 40 new vacancies,” he explains.
The work schedule includes the introduction of universally accessible public equipment and urban furniture to ensure democratic and inclusive social coexistence.
“Morro da Fumaça is honored that the trail runs through the center of the city, and in addition to its contribution to the economic aspect, it has an emotional connection with all of us residents of Fumaça. This project will combine history and development. Thanks to this, we will improve several aspects related to the well-being of residents,” emphasizes Deputy Mayor Eduardo Guollo.
According to the municipal administration, the project has already been approved by the Ministry of Cities, and the technical group BRDE (Banco Regional de Desenvolvimento do Extremo Sul) is assessing the engineering part. Moving forward with the initiative is contingent on City Council approval of a bill authorizing the work.
Investment of R$7.6 million.
“The estimated cost of the Linear Park is 5.3 million reais, given that the management aims to ensure the paving of Rua Silvio Sartor in parallel with the implementation of the project, the total investment amount will be 7.6 million reais,” explains. Minister of the Economic System Roberto José Savio Cayetano.
