Almost 250 bottles of imported wine (31) were seized on Tuesday evening on board the BR-101 in Joinville, northern Santa Catarina. The drinks were in the car and were brought in irregularly.
According to the Federal Traffic Police (PRF), the 247 bottles were brought from Argentina by a man and a woman aged 36 and 51. Agents approached them and decided to inspect the car.
Wine load exceeded permitted limit
With the support of military police, agents found several boxes of wine with Sao Paulo (SP) license plates in the trunk of the car. Drinks were brought from the neighboring country irregularly, since the load exceeded the maximum permitted norm, which is 12 liters or 16 bottles per month per person.
Also according to PRF, the wines were delivered to the Federal Tax Service warehouse in Joinville. The driver and passenger of the car were released, but were charged with embezzlement.
