On Wednesday morning (1st), civilian police teams carried out search and arrest warrants at two addresses linked to the Marmitagate case, in Blumenau and Pomerode, in Vale do Itajaí. Footage released by civilian police shows investigators standing in front of the house in the Agua Verde area where the family of the young woman from Blumenau involved in the case lives. Another group was also at a restaurant in the town of Pomerode, on the banks of SC-421, linked to the suspicion.

According to the Civil Police, cell phones and computers were seized and will be checked. After analyzing the information received, the Civil Police will transfer the case to the prosecutor’s office, which will begin to consider the complaint in the case.

Police have determined that a family car was stolen

Also during the operation this Wednesday (1st), a warrant was issued for the theft of a vehicle belonging to the suspects. Civil police are investigating whether the car was purchased with funds raised through the Alimentando Necessidades project.

According to delegate Andre Beckman, during the action this Wednesday (1st), no statements were collected, but only materials were seized in accordance with court orders approved by the prosecutor’s office. It was not possible to provide more detailed information.

Remember the Marmitagate case.

The case of the lunch box charity project remains under investigation by the Blumenau Civil Police. The alleged Alimentando Necessidades project scam went viral on social media in September 2022.

More than a year after the investigation began, the investigation is being carried out by the 1st Police Station Blumenau together with the 4th Police Department (anti-corruption police station).

The 20-year-old woman responsible for the profile, which collected monetary donations to feed the homeless, gave a statement on the case at the time of the events and provided bank statements, stating that the project actually existed.

The term “Lunchboxgate”, referring to the Watergate scandal, became one of the most discussed topics on the Internet throughout Brazil at the end of September 2022. At the center of the story is a charity project to distribute lunch boxes. , but who ended up being targeted by the police.

The case began on September 18, when an anonymous and autonomous group specializing in the investigation of publicly available data on the Internet disclosed a series of information that raised suspicions regarding the implementation of the Alimentando Necessidades project in Blumenau and the region.

In a dossier of sorts, the group pointed out several flaws in the stories being told, mainly through a profile of Taynara Motta, who said she was the project coordinator.

The profile began to gain attention online when the alleged rape was posted. The story was told on Twitter, but what caught the attention of social media users was that at the end of the story, the young woman left bank details for the project to collect donations.

After the resonance of the story, the group realized that the girl’s profile did not contain any information about her, and the photo used in the profile was not original and could be easily found on Pinterest.

Since the disclosure, more than 10 police complaints have been registered against the project. The investigation is ongoing.
