This Sunday morning, a small private plane crashed and exploded near Rio Branco Airport (AC). The accident occurred shortly after takeoff. The explosion occurred after the plane hit the ground. None of the 12 people on board survived.
According to a statement from the Acre state government, the plane was carrying a pilot, co-pilot and ten passengers – nine adults and a child. Everyone died on the spot, charred by the flames of the explosion.
The flight was heading to the city of Envira in the state of Amazonas and belonged to the company ART Táxi Aéreo.
The fire service, military police and Samu (mobile emergency service) were mobilized to rescue the victims and contain the fire spreading in the area. At the moment, the goal is to save the bodies and put out the fire.
“In light of the fatality, the Acre State Government expresses solidarity with the families of the passengers, pilot and co-pilot on the flight, and announces that it will keep its entire safety and health structure in place. to ensure the recovery of the bodies and avoid further disasters as a result of the fire, which quickly spread after the accident,” the Acre government said in a note.
