Truck driver Jorge de Oliveira Silva, 57, experienced a day of fear and relief this Wednesday (25). Around midday he saw his livelihood taken from him after he was hijacked in a BR-101 in Araquari, northern Santa Catarina.

A Mercedes-Benz with Itajaí license plates was stolen while it was parked at a restaurant on the side of the highway. The driver then notified Federal Highway Patrol agents about the crime and began searching for the vehicle.

The searches were carried out on BR-101 and nearby rural roads. Operationally, agents were able to locate the vehicle approximately 20 minutes later on a dirt road near the PRF operational unit in Barra Velha.

The car’s engine was still hot, but the culprit of the theft was not identified. The truck owner was delighted to find the vehicle again, which is the breadwinner for the 57-year-old’s family. Watch the exciting scene:
