The FF (Federal Police) launched an operation to investigate espionage in Brazilian telephony through an intrusion into the software of Abina (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) and this Friday executed three warrants in Florianópolis, San José and Palos (20).

Operation Last Mile points to a scheme involving Abin’s servers, which compromised Abin’s geolocation system located on mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets.

According to Abin, it was “intrusive software in Brazil’s critical telephony infrastructure” that could have been used multiple times to hack mobile devices.

PF executed 25 search and arrest warrants and two arrest warrants for telephone hacking

According to the PF, 25 search warrants and two preventive arrest warrants were executed in five states this Friday.

In addition to Santa Catarina, where three search and arrest warrants were executed in Greater Florianópolis, the operation was launched in São Paulo, Paraná, Goiás and the Federal District.

In addition to the hack of software used in Brazilian telephony, the PF is investigating the involvement of two Abin servers that were allegedly forced to hack the system.

According to the Pension Fund, those under investigation may be held responsible for crimes related to infiltration of someone else’s computer device, criminal organization and interception of telephone, information or telematic communications without court approval or for purposes not permitted by law.
