On Wednesday evening (18), a girl, only 8 years old, called the military police to report her father’s aggression. The incident occurred in the Corticeira area, in Guaramirim, in the north of Santa Catarina.
According to the Prime Minister, the child called 190 and asked for help because his father had attacked his mother. Police immediately arrived on the scene and found the house locked and the lights off. At that moment, the child appeared at the window, asked for help, and then hid.
The door of the house was locked and the police had to break in. Upon seeing police, the 53-year-old man fled to the back of the house. He was restrained and, according to agents, was drunk. During the approach, the man argued several times with the garrison and threatened: “If I were armed now, I would send the devil here,” police said.
Reacting to the incident, the man disobeyed orders to remain silent and attacked one of the police officers with his hands behind his back. At this time he was handcuffed. The man was arrested and released after signing a detailed statement.
What happened to the victims after the complaint?
The man’s 43-year-old wife, who was the victim of the attacks, said that her husband often comes home drunk, after which he quarrels with her and exchanges insults. She also said the violent episodes had harmed her daughter, who was left psychologically damaged.
Since the case also involves a child, the guardianship council was also present. After speaking with the girl’s mother, the counselors realized that it would be better for the child if she was removed from the home with her mother, since if she remained there, she would be forced to live in an unhealthy and risky way.
