On an area of about 30 thousand square meters there are at least 100 life-size dinosaurs, a cinema, a museum, a restaurant, a boat ride, and a cafe. A total of 20 interactive tours can be taken, which include a zip line, indoor and outdoor play area, tree climbing and a hands-on paleontologist interaction area that reinforces and encourages environmental education. More than 100 original fossils are on display for the public to see.
“This is the first park we know of that is divided into eras: Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous,” explains Oceanic group director Kiko Burger. And when you know, you save yourself.
Aventura Jurassica is part of the itinerary of four combined projects in Balneario Camboriu initiated by the Oceanic Group. They:
- Oceanic Aquarium – an aquarium containing 140 species of animals in 30 different habitats;
- Classic Car Show – a museum of historical cars with 36 rare models;
- Pirate Adventure – a treasure hunt with pirates, with theater, games and cinema.
You can visit four parks in a package that guarantees discounts and the opportunity to learn while having fun, while also promoting local tourism. “Innovative investments like Aventura Jurassica encourage tourists to stay longer and make Balneario Camboriu a happier municipality, economically impacting the entire tourism network,” says Vivian Bones, BC Convention communications specialist.
The production chain is also strengthened by BRDE incentives. “The Regional Development Bank of the Far South has provided and supported everything from facilities such as entertainment venues to hotels and businesses that are part of the Santa Catarina tourist route,” emphasizes bank president João Paulo Kleinübing.
The group’s four parks carry a commitment to knowledge and history. At Aventura Jurassica, for example, all technical support is provided by a team of paleontologists who have made major fossil discoveries in Brazil, along with other experts in the field. Kiko Bürger, Oceanic Group Director, explains: “Visitors come to be entertained but leave with pleasure, both at the museums and at the Oceanic Aquarium. This is what we call edutainment: a mixture of education and entertainment.”
He recalls with pride the day they welcomed the president of IAAPA, the Global Association of the Amusement Industry, to Jurassic Adventure, who classified the park as having an international-class structure.
The first phase of the opening of Aventura Jurassica, which commenced operations in September 2023, has created more than 100 direct jobs and strengthened the careers of those already working in the group’s other spaces. So says one of the professionals of the Oceanic Group, Guilherme Schultz Moreira: “My first contact with tourism happened in an aquarium and I fell in love. With smiles, with a dynamic attitude towards us both among employees and among visitors. I started as a photographer’s assistant and today I’m an operations manager.”
BRDE, the Far South Regional Development Bank, was also a resource partner for the Ocean Aquarium project. “The bank was a very active partner, with good long-term lines. Imagine: 40 million, 60 million investments in projects… support is extremely important. We keep in touch with the financial institution’s team on new projects,” says Kiko Bürger, Oceanic Group Director.
For João Paulo Kleinübing, director of BRDE, this is one of the main challenges – going beyond credit. “This involves working on the issue of public-private partnerships, working to strengthen the bank as a sustainable institution and supporting the development of Santa Catarina within the state’s priorities.” It recalls three partners who also play an important role in providing resources: BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development), FINEP (financier of research and projects) and FUNGETUR (New General Fund for Tourism).
The strength of Santa Catarina’s tourism sector initiatives is evident in the satisfaction of those who visit Santa Catarina. The family of Bruno Lotufo, a tourist from Rio, returned to the state after a long time. In his opinion, “the number of attractions in the city has increased. We came to this park for the first time and it is a lot of fun and fun. We bought a package to go on other tours.” The mother, Juliana Lotufo, emphasizes that “the best thing to do is to work on your studies, to learn through play, as a family.” They ensure that the city’s attractions are worthy of an excellent recommendation.
